Firstly, designers David Thompson and Trevor Benjamin have created a new scenario for you to try, pitting a coalition force against the Germans in the historical Battle for Castle Itter. You can download the scenario for free here or, if you are at Essen for SPIEL ’19, make sure you stop by our booth (5H124) to pick up a printed version of it!
Here are two interesting news, I’ve just picked up:
Cephalofair Games will release Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion, a Gloomhaven campaign at lower price point for casual gamers, into trade in Q3 of 2020. The Jaws of the Lion campaign is set prior to the original Gloomhaven, and it follows a group of mercenaries as they investigate unexplained disappearances in the city. This game offers the Gloomhaven experience at a lower price point and without the cardboard map tiles. Instead, players will simply play the game on the scenario book itself, which has artwork unique to each scenario. Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion also makes the game easier to learn by coming with a simplified rules set and a five-scenario tutorial.
Next Move Games will release Azul: Crystal Mosaic, an expansion for Azul, into trade in April 2020. Azul: Crystal Mosiac comes with new double-sided boards that allow for new strategies for players to discover as well as a set of overlays for player boards. The new expansion enhances gameplay experience with a more organized look, and the player board overlays keep tiles from accidentally getting bumped out of place.
Build a better future underground in Fallout® Shelter™: The Board Game , a post-nuclear worker-placement board game for two to four players. Based on the hit mobile game from Bethesda Softworks, Fallout Shelter sees you take on the role of a vault officer fostering happiness among the citizens of your vault. With the election of a new Overseer looming, the officer who can gain the most happiness among the dwellers is sure to lock up the election and attain victory.
Another interesting announcement is the news that Pegasus Spiele is planning the release of a Hansa Teutonica Big Box in 2020:
As you might now know, Hansa Teutonica Big Box did not debut at SPIEL ’19. Asked for an update, Pegasus’ Ronja Lauterbach has let me know that “it took too long to work things out with the printers and our partners for other countries”, so the item was delayed rather than being rushed out. At this time, no release date has been set other than a general date of 2020.
Iron Man and Black Panther team up to stop Rhino from rampaging through the streets of New York. Captain Marvel and Spider-Man battle Ultron as he threatens global annihilation. Do you have what it takes to join the ranks of these legendary heroes and become a champion? Jump into the Marvel Universe with Marvel Champions: The Card Game, a cooperative Living Card Game for one to four players! Marvel Champions: The Card Game invites players embody iconic heroes from the Marvel Universe as they battle to stop infamous villains from enacting their devious schemes. As a Living Card Game, Marvel Champions is supported with regular releases of new product, including new heroes and scenarios—check out the products section at the bottom of this page to see everything announced so far!
As in the original Minecraft digital game, in Minecraft: Builders & Biomes players explore the Overworld, build structures, and mine resources, earning points for structures and the largest connected biomes of forest, desert, mountain, or snowy tundra spaces on their player boards. Familiar foes like Endermen, Creepers, and other mobs also appear throughout the game, and they need to be defeated using weapons collected from the board. Defeating mobs earn players points in addition to granting additional awards. Game scoring occurs as the resource cube’s layers are depleted. As soon as the third layer runs out, the adventure comes to an end, and the builder with the most points wins.

The game is expected to get released sometime in October (more likely late October because of Essen).
Vladimir Such, the designer of Underwater Cities, has posted a Designer Diary for New Discoveries, the first expansion for Underwater Cities.
Instead, the expansion — Underwater Cities: New Discoveries — is made of several independent modules that add a variety of aspects to the game, such as greater variability, asymmetric starting conditions, and more interaction.
Plaid Hat Games has released a How to Play-video for their new and highly anticipated adventure book game Aftermath.
Aftermath is an Adventure Book Game in which players take on the role of small critters struggling to survive and thrive in a big, dangerous world. Humans have mysteriously vanished, and the remnants of civilization are quickly being reclaimed by nature and the animals who still remain.
