Here are two interesting news, I’ve just picked up:
Cephalofair Games will release Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion, a Gloomhaven campaign at lower price point for casual gamers, into trade in Q3 of 2020. The Jaws of the Lion campaign is set prior to the original Gloomhaven, and it follows a group of mercenaries as they investigate unexplained disappearances in the city. This game offers the Gloomhaven experience at a lower price point and without the cardboard map tiles. Instead, players will simply play the game on the scenario book itself, which has artwork unique to each scenario. Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion also makes the game easier to learn by coming with a simplified rules set and a five-scenario tutorial.
Next Move Games will release Azul: Crystal Mosaic, an expansion for Azul, into trade in April 2020. Azul: Crystal Mosiac comes with new double-sided boards that allow for new strategies for players to discover as well as a set of overlays for player boards. The new expansion enhances gameplay experience with a more organized look, and the player board overlays keep tiles from accidentally getting bumped out of place.
After all those delays before Christmas, we have finally received some good news regarding the reprints of Root and Gloomhaven: Both are on the way to the UK.
Root is slightly in the lead and is expected to arrive on the 14th or 15th January. And even better: the Riverfolk expansion will arrive in the same delivery.
Gloomhaven is also on the ship to the UK and should arrive here at the end of January and should be available from us at the beginning of February. At the moment we can’t accept any new orders for Gloomhaven, but we will post an update regarding the stock we will receive as soon as we have the confirmation from our supplier(s).
We have done a bit of research today to look which games will be available before Christmas. So far we have no new details about pre-Christmas releases, but we unfortunately found a few games that definitely won’t make it before Christmas:
Aeon’s End Legacy
Unlock! Exotic Adventures
Dinosaur Island Expansion
All these games are now pushed back to January.
We also got an update regarding the Gloomhaven reprint and it doesn’t sound good: it also has been moved back (again) and now will arrive in the UK in January.
I’m very sorry for these constant delays. Hopefully we will have better news soon!
The newest reprint of Gloomhaven was expected to arrive at distributors and retailers sometime in November/December. Now it looks more like it will closer to the end of this time span: there has been a production delay and the stock is expected to arrive in the UK in late December.
With a bit more than three weeks until Christmas this puts the availability of the game before Christmas at risk. But we will post an update as soon as we hear anything new.
Thanks to the Easter holidays April is always one of the quieter months of the year for us. But we still had some interesting games coming in and new pre-orders going live. So here is a quick look at our Top 5 in sales and pre-orders:
Top 5 Sales:
2) City of Kings
3) Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle
4) Escape the Dark Castle
5) Port Royal: The Adventure begins
With Azul being back in stock for the first time since December it’s no wonder that the restock took the top spot. Hogwarts Battle is a steady seller thanks to good reviews and lots of Potter fans out there. And Adventure begins, the campaign expansion sneaked in at the end of the month and just made it into our Top 5.
Top 5 Pre-Orders
1) Gloomhaven: Forgotten Circles
2) The Sands of Time
3) Dragon Castle
4) Roll Player: Monsters & Minions
5) Great Western Trail: Rails to the North (German Edition)
The Pre-Orders Top 5 is dominated by expansions for three of the biggest hits of the last year. Forgotten Circles will not be available before November, but already had a rush of orders coming in for it. Monsters & Minions brings new elements into an already very good game and Rails to the North is perfect for everyone who wants to make the Great Western Trail even bigger.
