The Rise of Red Skull

FFG has announced The Rise of Red Skull, the first campaign expansion for Marvel Champions.

The Rise of Red Skull boasts a massive infusion of new content for your games of Marvel Champions. Hawkeye and Spider-Woman join your roster of heroes with fully pre-built and ready-to-play player decks stuffed with new cards. Whether you’re playing these new heroes or relying on old favorites, you can test their mettle against five brand-new villains: Crossbones, Absorbing Man, Taskmaster, Zola, and Red Skull. Each of these five scenarios offers a unique challenge, and while you can simply choose a villain to battle, this campaign expansion lives up to its name with the introduction of campaign mode to Marvel Champions: The Card Game.

The ETA for the expansion is sometime in late 2020 with a more detailed release date coming once the worldwide coronavirus lockdown has ended and some kind of normality has returned.

In case you don’t want to wait this long: we have just received some restock of the Green Goblin Scenario Pack which offers two new scenarios and four modular encounter sets and should keep you busy for a while.

Restocks and more restocks

Today it isn’t about new releases, today is all about restocks.

The Marvel: Champions core set and all four expansion packs are back in stock.

And more restocks:

Shadowed Paths announced

FFG has announced the first big box expansion for The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth.

A new menace stirs in Mirkwood. Rumors of gigantic spiders infesting the forest have drawn you to visit the realm of the Woodland King, but who knows what you might find there, lurking around the next corner, shaded under thick, rustling boughs?

Fantasy Flight Games is happy to announce the Shadowed Paths expansion for The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth!

Calling you east of the Misty Mountains, this expansion unlocks an all-new campaign with thirteen scenarios that take you from the tangled paths of Mirkwood deep into the shadowed halls of abandoned Moria. At the same time, Shadowed Paths adds five heroes, 25 enemy miniatures and 20 journey map tiles as well as new terrain, items, and titles to all of your adventures in Middle-earth!
Will you heed the call? Gather your friends, prepare your heroes, and brave the terrors of Shadowed Paths!

Marvel Champions Update

Marvel Champions, the new LCG from FFG, is back in stock. That’s the good news, but the bad news is that the first three expansions have been pushed back to January:

Fallout Shelter and Hansa Teutonica News

We have barely seen all of the new Essen releases yet, but there are already some interesting announcements for 2020.

Fantasy Flight Games has announced Fallout Shelter – The Board Game for the first quarter of 2020:

Based on the hit mobile game from Bethesda Softworks, Fallout Shelter sees you take on the role of a vault officer fostering happiness among the citizens of your vault. With the election of a new Overseer looming, the officer who can gain the most happiness among the dwellers is sure to lock up the election and attain victory.

Another interesting announcement is the news that Pegasus Spiele is planning the release of a Hansa Teutonica Big Box in 2020:

As you might now know, Hansa Teutonica Big Box did not debut at SPIEL ’19. Asked for an update, Pegasus’ Ronja Lauterbach has let me know that “it took too long to work things out with the printers and our partners for other countries”, so the item was delayed rather than being rushed out. At this time, no release date has been set other than a general date of 2020.

Release Date Updates

It is the end of the month and again there have been some delays. Here are the most important releases that didn’t make it in April and their new release date:

  • Underwater Cities: Mid to late May because of production problems (a machine broke down at the printer)
  • Inis: Isle of Seasons : Mid May according to an Instagram post from Matagot.
  • Bunny Kingdom: In the Sky: the expansion has been released and the stock is on the way to the UK. It should become available after the May Bank Holiday weekend.
  • Men at Work: June (see reason here)
  • Star Wars: The Outer Rim – not all is bad, here are some good news: Outer Rim has been moved forward to May
  • Tiny Towns : it was supposed to get released this week, but Asmodee UK decided to push it back a bit because they didn’t receive enough stock to fulfil all pre-orders. More stock is expected in the next couple of weeks and all retailers will get their complete pre-orders without any allocations.
