New games this week (02/03/18)

Despite the snow chaos, it was another busy week here at Meeples’ Corner. Lots of new games have arrived including some interesting restocks.

But first the new games:

The two interesting restocks are Bunny Kingdom from Iello and Photosynthesis from Blue Orange Games. And we still have enough copies of the Christmas Tree Promo for Photosynthesis to add one to each copy of the game.

King Kong arrives next week

Good news for all fans for King of Tokyo/King of New York: The King Kong Monster Pack will arrive next week in the UK.

He is not happy! King Kong is ready to conquer the Empire State Building and Tokyo Tower to find his love. Will you dare cross his path, or worse, capture his beloved?

The King Kong Monster Pack adds new elements to two game: Tokyo Tower for King of Tokyo and the Empire State Building for King of New York!

We are back in action

2018 is here – a (late) Happy New Year to everyone!

We are back in action and the first two days last week have already been quite busy. On Friday we received the first new games of the year:

And the good stuff keeps on coming: for this week we are finally expecting the release of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle and The Monster Box of Monsters, the first expansion. Also expected to arrive is the reprint of Altiplano and Tybor the Builder, the new Mayfair Games card game set in the world of Longsdale.

And to look a bit further ahead: We’ve just added the pre-orders for Dark Souls – The Card Game and Alien Artifacts: Discovery (first expansion pack for Alien Artifacts) to the website. Both games/expansions are expected to be available sometime in March.

Last week of new games for 2017

Next week is the last chance for new releases to arrive. A few games have made the cut and are expecting to arrive on Tuesday/Wednesday (just in time to get them shipped before Christmas):

  • Bunny Kingdom
  • Dragonsgate College
  • Exodus Fleet
  • Flamme Rouge: Peloton (sold out)
  • Harvest
  • Kingsburg (2017 Edition)
  • Majesty: For the Realm
  • Mountains of Madness
  • Photosynthesis (sold out)

Terraforming Mars: Venus Next will arrive after Christmas and will be ready to get shipped when we are at the office in the new year.

This means that quite a lot of games haven’t made the pre-Christmas cut and are now expected to arrive in January. Once the dust has settled and business is back to normal early January I will hopefully be able to chase some updates for most of them to get a better picture when to expect them.

I can only apologise to everyone who was hoping to play a new shiny game during the Christmas break and is now disappointed.

Top 5: November

November is behind us and it is time for another Top 5. This is the first one post-Essen and some of the top games were a surprise for me:

Top 5 Sales

  1. Altiplano
  2. Calimala
  3. Santa Maria
  4. Azul
  5. Indian Summer

Calimala and Santa Maria are the two surprise on this list. Both are really good games with very positive feedback after Essen, but not the big hits I was expecting here. But their success is also based on the fact, that they haven’t  been on general release in the UK (yet???) and we luckily managed to get stock in shortly after Essen.

And this list doesn’t include big Essen hits like Nusfjord, Charterstone and Photosynthesis, because they have been delayed and are only arriving now.

Top 5 Pre-Orders

  1. Rajas of the Ganges
  2. Clans of Caledonia
  3. John Company
  4. Bunny Kingdom
  5. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle

Again, a few surprises here: Rajas went a bit under the radar at Essen (a bit like Ulm last year, so maybe it is also connected to the publisher), but it is a new Inka & Markus Brand game, which are always quite popular. No surprise with Clans of Caledonia, it was only stopped from taking spot #1 by a limited number of copies available. John Company is another surprise: Sierra Madre Games is normally known for very heavy games that are only interesting for a very small number of gamers, but this one has an interesting theme and is apparently more on the lighter side.

And again a small footnote to this Top 5: there are none of the big hitters like Azul, Nusfjord, Charterstone etc. included, because for most or all of these the pre-orders closed shortly before or after Essen based on the high demand and us wanting to make sure that every pre-order customer will get a copy.

Look ahead: What is incoming?

We are getting closer and closer to Christmas and still, quite a few of the Essen releases haven’t arrived with us. But for this week a few more have been confirmed and it also looks good for next week.

Here are the games/expansions con arrive arrived this week:

Early next week Charterstone and the Recharge pack will arrive and hopefully the main part of our Photosynthesis order, Bunny Kingdom and Mountains of Madness (the last three should get confirmed later this week).

New arrivals (14/08/17)

Today the first delivery of the week has arrived:

New in stock is Arena: For the Gods!, the new game from Iello.

Welcome to the Arena of the all-powerful, where only the greatest mythological heroes fight to please the Gods. With Arena, dive into a universe in which heroes from 6 different mythos fight together for the entertainment of their Gods. Handpicked by a divine hand for a battle to the death, you’re assuming the role of a powerful fighter.

And back in stock is Kingdomino, the winner of the Spiel des Jahres award 2017.

In Kingdomino, you are a Lord seeking new lands in which to expand your kingdom. You must explore all the lands, wheat fields, lakes, and mountains in order to spot the best plots. But be careful as some other Lords also covet these lands…

Shop Update

A quick update what is happening on the shop website at the moment:

Two days ago FFG announced Fallout – The Board Game. Today the pre-order went online. Price for the game is £48.95 and expected release date is November/December.

Another new pre-order on the website is Photosynthesis, the new game from Blue Orange Games (Kingdomino). The European release will be at Essen 2017, so the game should be available at the end of October.

And finally good news for Arena: For the Gods. The new game from Iello is on its way to us and should be available from Monday.
