Tauceti Deichmann’s thorough design sits at a unique intersection of simple turn order and complex chains of trading. This refined edition re-implements the gameplay that makes Sidereal Confluence a standout:

The Sidereal Confluence board game is a singularly unique trading and negotiation game for 4-9 players. Over the course of the game, each race must trade and negotiate with the rest to acquire the resource cubes necessary to fund their economy and allow it to produce goods for the next turn. Scheming, dealing, and mutually beneficial agreements are key to success. While technically a competitive game, Sidereal Confluence has a uniquely cooperative feel during the trading phase as no race has the ability to thrive on its own. Trade well, and you’ll develop technologies and colonize planets to form a civilization that is the envy of the galaxy.

Sidereal is a unique game. From 3 to 9 players (yes it works with 3 though it can be difficult and mean at such a low player count), you essentially have to co-operate with every other player, in a competition to accrue the most points. Each player, controlling a unique alien race, must use their economy and integrate with others, making deals, trading, and producing resources, in order to maximise a kind of ‘capital flow’ and the more successful you are, the better your score. A rising tide lifts all boats, but the trick is not to rip people off or be difficult, but to make consistently good deals and make people want to trade with you. At higher player counts, it’s like running a little market, and can be very high energy. No other game like it.
