Description

Unmatched Cobble & Fog (designed by Rob DaviauJustin D. JacobsonChris Leder and Kevin Rodgers) features four new heroes for the Unmatched system. Invisible Man uses fog to dart around the board and strike without warning. Sherlock, with the trusty Watson by his side, schemes and calculates to ensure victory. Dracula and the sisters slowly drain you of your power. Jekyll & Hyde uses the former’s cunning and the latter’s brute strength to win the day.

Unmatched Cobble & Fog is a highly asymmetrical miniature fighting game for two or four players. Each hero is represented by a unique deck designed to evoke their style and legend. Tactical movement and no-luck combat resolution create a unique play experience that rewards expertise, but just when you’ve mastered one set, new heroes arrive to provide all new match-ups.

IMPORTANT: this is a stand-alone set that can also get used as an expansion for Unmatched, Vol 1

This is exactly what I wanted from the series. One of my worries was each box would be more or less the same; despite some clever deck constructions, ultimately they would remix the same elements and come up with some quite limited variation. Cobble & Fog removes this concern; each fighter is different in subtle and overt ways, each deck is not only characterful in terms of abilities but expresses unique facets of each character (and sidekick!) through many small variations. Some serious thought has gone into this game, and even new additions to the map, however small, are welcome. Quite possibly my favourite Unmatched box, and easily my favourite characters to fight with, and against. Every aspect of the production, down to the card backs, is designed with care. Stellar.
