Description

You’ve built housing for humanity in neighbourhoods and New Las Vegas. Now you need to save humanity through space colonization…

The Welcome to the Moon board game (designed by Alexis AllardBenoit Turpin) uses the same flip-and-write game mechanisms as the earlier title Welcome To.., but now you can play in a campaign across eight adventure sheets. On a turn, you flip cards from three stacks to create three different combinations of a starship number and a corresponding action, then all players choose one of these three combinations. You use the number to fill a space in a zone on your adventure sheet in numerical order, and everyone is racing to be the first to complete common missions.

The eight adventure sheets feature very different mechanisms from the classic Welcome To… concept, and when you play in campaign mode, you’ll make choices that change the next adventure, which means that each campaign will differ from the previous one.

This is a step up from “Welcome to …”, for starters there are scenarios to complete and a separate board for each scenario, the boards are now dry wipe with pens provided and the paper pad has gone. Play is the same as “Welcome to …” in that you turn over a card from each of 3 stacks cards and choose a pair of cards to action (for those not in the know one side of a card has a number between1 & 15 the other has one of 6 different symbols, each player has a game-sheet where they have to place numbers in numerical (though not necessarily sequential) order, completion of sections of your sheet gets you points). The restrictions on number placement remains but the symbols have different meanings and you can now get power ups as well as points on completing certain aspects of the your play-sheet and the scenario. Goal cards are still in but they are scenario specific however as there are 6 for each scenario and you use only 3 each game this gives plenty of variety. I have only played Scenario 1 so far but very impressed so far and happy to own this as well as the base game as they are quite different.
