Suleiman the Magnificent's 30,000 strong armada descends on the 500 beleaguered Knights of St John and the defending people of Malta, with the express purpose of wiping them from existence, and changing the course of European history forever... The 1565 St. Elmo's Pay card game is an asymmetric, competitive, tactical game, and successor to the award-nominated 1066, Tears to Many Mothers, with which it is fully compatible. Each player, as either Ottoman Turks or Knights of St John, musters troops and resources to overcome the various obstacles in their path before the two armies clash in an epic siege over three fronts on the tiny island of Malta: Birgu, Senglea, and the doomed fortress of Saint Elmo.

Every beautiful card in the game is inspired by a real person or event from the time. With a focus on quick, tactical play and a thematic re-imagining of the events of the time, the game is non-collectable, and there is no deck building required. Each player simply grabs their deck and shuffles, then play begins.

These prices are subject to change, the final charges will be visible in the checkout before you finalise your order. We aim to ship all orders placed before 3pm Monday to Friday, within 1-2 working days. Our standard shipping method for the UK is Royal Mail Tracked 48.

Faster shipping options can be purchased at the checkout - Royal Mail Tracked 24 is available, as is Royal Mail Next Working Day by 1pm.

Germany, Denmark, Ireland Orders

   

We are now charging Tax and Duty at checkout for orders to Germany, Denmark & Ireland. This means that there are no hidden costs to pay before you receive your order. This has taken effect from 16th July 2026.

Shipping charges have been improved and can be found at checkout once you have items in your basket.

EU Orders/Rest of World Orders

Shipping costs are calculated at the checkout.

We no longer charge VAT (sales tax) for orders outside the UK (except in Germany & Denmark). You may be charged your local sales tax on entry to your country and could be charged duty on products manufactured outside the EU and UK.

We aim to ship all orders placed before 3pm GMT within 1-2 working days. The default shipping method is 'Standard Delivery'. This is a reliable airmail service with no tracking. Transit times for non-UK orders can be very unpredictable. Royal Mail state to aim to deliver these parcels in 3-5 working days but it can take a lot longer.

If you refuse to pay Custom Duties and Tax if required by your country's government, the parcel will be returned to us. Please note, any charges incurred by Meeples Corner for the return of the parcel will be subtracted from the total refund amount.
