Awesome adaptation, but even if you haven’t played the video game „Slay the Sprire“, it is still an incredibly fun board game. The material is high quality and overall the game is worth the steep price.

It's got sharks, and it's got reefs.

The new powers are good fun and they add a bit of variety to the existing cards. As always the card art is excellent, and the same genuine love of the sea from the base game has clearly gone into the expansion.

Nippon Zaibatsu is a beautifully produced board game. Once you understand the concepts, it becomes a playground of choice and tests your ability to plan ahead.
I’ve only played the solo setup, the automa is easy to upkeep after mentally fine tuning the rules and provides the sense of an opposing player, your plans will be compromised by the automa.
Overall, the game appears well balanced for solo mode, I regularly achieve scores around 180 points, my personal best is 207 points.
Setup is reasonably efficient and it’s refreshing to play a board game with no card play mechanics.
