Geoff Byers –
Chinatown just so happens to still be not only one of the best negotiation games around, but also an efficient way in to the modern board game hobby for people who have only played the likes of Monopoly before. Earning money from properties will be instantly familiar, but additionally, players can buy, sell, and trade them as they see fit. It’s easy to learn, it doesn’t take long, and it has excellent balance. You might need to implement a timer in the last round to prevent players doing their Rain Man impression and trying to calculate their way to victory, but it’s an otherwise excellent game.
