Description

The PARKS board game is a celebration of the US National Parks featuring illustrious art from Fifty-Nine Parks.

In the PARKS board game, players will take on the role of two hikers as they trek through different trails across four seasons of the year. While on the trail, these hikers will take actions and collect memories of the places your hikers visit. These memories are represented by various resource tokens like mountains and forests. Collecting these memories in sets will allow players to trade them in to visit a National Park at the end of each hike.

Each trail represents one season of the year, and each season, the trails will change and grow steadily longer. The trails, represented by tiles, get shuffled in between each season and laid out anew for the next round. Resources can be tough to come by especially when someone is at the place you’re trying to reach! Campfires allow you to share a space and time with other hikers. Canteens and Gear can also be used to improve your access to resources through the game. It’ll be tough to manage building up your engine versus spending resources on parks, but we bet you’re up to the challenge. Welcome to PARKS!

Hello, well what can i say about this game, the production values are amazing. The artwork is really good, both on the box and the pieces. The quality of the pieces is good(an enamel badge for first player, not needed, but added to the overall beauty of the game). The cards are thick and robust the player pieces are wooden and in two indentical trays,so you dont have to reach too far.I love how the animal pieces are varied and are the wild resource. Also all this fits into a custom tray in the box,so no loose pieces when the box is on your shelf.

The gameplay is simple yet can get tactical. Each player has two hikers walking along a randomised trail.Land on a spot and do an action or take a resource and when you reach the end of the trail, you buy a park or a card that gives more options next round. But when you are on a spot it either makes it have a cost for someone to share it with you or it may deny it totally,if they have shared a space before.
The main thing that i like is the conversations i have had playing the game about the parks in the game.Either on how beautiful they look or how they were if some one in the group has been.
I would recomend it to play with seasoned players and new players as the tactics would appeal to the seasoned ones and the quality and beauty would(in my humble opinion)make new players think about joining the hobby.
